Heat Transfer Vinyl On Mug Not Sticking
It is the adhesive side but only sticks with heat.
Heat transfer vinyl on mug not sticking. I will say my favorite application method for the heat transfer vinyl on a mug was the mini iron. You create a decal but when you go to pick it up with the transfer tape the vinyl refuses to release from the backing paper. This is the side we want to cut on make sure to always place the shiny side down onto your cutting mat. Your vinyl is not sticking to your transfer tape.
We don t want to cut on this side. The shiny side is a clear plastic carrier sheet that holds the heat transfer vinyl in place. This is why you need the heat to apply so typically htv is only going to work with a material. You create a decal but only some of the letters stick onto the transfer tape while the rest are left behind on the backing paper.
Now if you are going to hand wash your mugs you can probably use either adhesive vinyl or heat transfer vinyl and any of the application methods mentioned. Htv or heat transfer vinyl is not intended to be used on ceramic glass mugs or any type of substrate other than something that will allow the htv to melt into it. When too much pressing happens on a design it is almost as if the adhesive gets completely burned off. On the other hand if easyweed is not pressed long enough or at too low of heat it will also not.
Your best option is to not pre wash garments. Transfer not sticking to the garment. Sometimes this can cause issues with heat transfer vinyl sticking. If you need shirts that won t shrink purchase preshrunk shirts to prevent it.
